DAY-9 23 December (Cape Town city tour)

Assorted video collection from Day 9

Early morning after our regular English breakfast, I took our trusty bike & headed to MotoBerlin to return it back. The Lawrence was there to greet me with his friendly smile and after we go thru the post-rental inspection, all is well (afterall I have taken care of the RT as my own bike) and I am given the all clear signal. Sure it’s a nice feeling to have successfully done the ride, but the customary element of sadness also creeps in as I am parting company with the third & trusty member of our unforgettable riding adventure in South Africa over the past 8 days with its numerous pictures to take back as memories. Anyways, I also drop into Atlantic Motorrad, the BMW bike dealer and click a few quick snaps.

ONE LAST PARTING SHOT

I return back to the B&B, where Mrs Tourist (yeah the Adventure tag has been dropped for today..), has already made reservation online for the Cape Town Sight seeing Hop-on, Hop off bus. However, due to extreme windy conditions today, one of the attractions- the cable car ride to the Table Mountain top is closed. We soon head on foot to the downtown pick-up point and alight the open top bus as regular tourists (I mean the type with a cap, map, backpack & camera around neck..). The tour takes us thru Camps bay, Sea point, St George’s Cathedral, South African Museum, Castle of Good Hope, Greenmarket Square and finally to the popular tourist destination of-  The V&A Waterfront.

I THINK THE MAIL BOX WON BY A FEW MILLIMETERS…..

GREENMARKET SQUARE

HOP ON HOP OFF STARTS……

NOW THAT’S ONE BIG BOSS….

SOME HOMES PREFER THE SAFETY OF ELECTRIC FENCES

APARENTLY THESE TREES GROW SLANTED DUE TO WINDS FROM THE ATLANTIC..

At the Waterfront we visit the Two Oceans Aquarium that presents the underwater sea life from the Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean, which is an awesome treat.

Nobel Square at Waterfront- The 4 Nobel Peace Prize Laureates of SA

AQUARIUM OF THE TWO OCEANS

SOME FOOLING AROUND….

After some more walking around, window shopping (& actual shopping) for mementos, we end our tour and it is that sad time to finally pull down the curtains on our wonderful South African tour.

Closing Note
After eight days of unforgettable riding adventure in this part of the world, although we have barely glanced thru a small part of Southern Africa, myself & wife can reasonably endorse the fact that this is an extraordinary experience for anybody, more so when explored on two-wheels. Our love & admiration for the continent of Africa has only intensified further and it just sucks you back. I hope we can go back some time to see the real Africa on a wilder & much larger adventure on two-wheels….. and here is signing off from Sud africa as they would locally say in Afrikaans - “Totsiens & hoop om julle gou weer te sien”- Goodbye & hope to see you again.

We thank you for following us on this trip and we hope you liked it as much as we enjoyed sharing it with all of you. As always please keep the comments coming.

Haroon  & Farzana.
